While many customers have made the decision to switch to a new electricity provider as a result of deregulation, not all are happy with their decision. Some customers have been taken in by low introductory rates that rapidly increase after the discount period closes (http://www.prweb.com/releases/2011/02/prweb5078864.htm). Other customers have been lured by one-time account credits or gift cards.

There are opportunities for almost every customer to save money through the new system, but many have selected plans that fail to be competitive with conventional utility suppliers once introductory promotions end.

Customers have some options to compare rates online to ensure that they’re getting the best deal, but few sites list all the available energy prices in a way that lends itself well to comparison across providers.
